After the shock resignation of half of Gerrards Cross Town Council, including the Mayor, there will be by-elections across the town on 7th December. Gerrards Cross is a great place to live. It needs a council that works together as a team to keep it that way.
As candidates for your Town Council we promise:
Our priorities will be:
Rosa has lived in Gerrards Cross with her family for 20 years. Her two grown-up children attended local schools, where she actively helped for many years. Rosa is a marketing director who works with large corporate clients. She wants to use her skills and passion to give back to her community.
Rosa believes we deserve a Town Council that works together and prioritises results over politics, helping GX thrive and fostering a strong community. As a councillor, she will work with residents, ensuring their voices are heard and tackling the issues that are most important to them.
Gerry Clare first came to Gerrards Cross from Malta as a teenager. He is an ophthalmologist currently working at Moorfields Eye Hospital, having received training in eye surgery as a military doctor during his decorated 20-year service. After retiring from the military, he worked with non-governmental organisations in various regions worldwide, including sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Gerry has long been interested in politics and wants to use his broad and varied experience to help the Town Council promote well-being and wider health concerns on behalf of residents. Some of these concerns include the provision of primary and secondary healthcare services, road safety, and environmental issues such as noise pollution and fly-tipping.
Diane has lived in Gerrards Cross for 37 years and raised a family here. She has a degree in European Studies, initially worked in export marketing and later for a national charity. Diane now volunteers with various organisations in South Bucks.
Active in the local community, Diane is a member of the steering group drafting the Neighbourhood Plan for Gerrards Cross. Like many people, Diane is concerned about our impact on the environment and would like to make it easier for residents to be “greener” in their daily lives.
Jill has lived in Gerrards Cross for fourteen years. She began her career as a litigation solicitor in the City and later became a university academic, lecturing and writing on European Union law and policies and environmental issues.
Jill is committed to transparency in decision-making, promoting community voice, and adopting policies that benefit all residents. She is particularly interested in residents' access to green areas, community activities, and learning resources.
Julian is a 25 year resident of Gerrards Cross. He is now semi-retired after a career in marketing services, working for international agencies and their clients worldwide. With the children he raised in Gerrards Cross all grown up and his globetrotting days over, he now devotes his time to giving back to the community.
Julian is a Trustee and Non-Executive Director for several charities. During the pandemic, he was part of the GX covid 19 support group. He is disappointed with some of the recent behaviour of the Council. With his experience in corporate and charity governance, he is determined to restore good working governance to the Town Council.
