Rob Castell, who was born and brought up in the area, returned here to start a family and be close to his parents. He will campaign to take what was one of the safest Conservative seats in the country. With Dominic Grieve deselected by his local association and thrown out of the Conservative Party for putting country before party, there is the opportunity for change in the constituency.

Rob was selected for the role on Friday night.

Chair of the Buckinghamshire South Lib Dems, Carol Linton, said: "I am delighted and incredibly pleased that Rob Castell has chosen the Beaconsfield constituency to pursue the changes he wants to see in our society.

"Our second place in the European Elections this year showed that the Liberal Democrats can win in Beaconsfield constituency. The Conservative party is struggling over their future vision for the UK and with the reorganisation of local government into the unitary Buckinghamshire Council. This is the time for Liberal Democrats to make an impact and bring voters expectations to the fore.

"Like me, Rob studied at the University of East Anglia and taught abroad - Rob in Ecuador and me in Sierra Leone.

"With our revival both nationally and locally combined with a fantastic candidate, these are exciting times for the Liberal Democrats."

Rob added: "Everyone is an armchair or social media politician these days and I decided to actually get out there and do something. I love this area and community is hugely important to me.'

'At a time when so many people are distanced by the political world I think it's important to have more ordinary citizens getting stuck in. We all need to talk to each other more.'

Rob is a musician and local teacher, having previously been an actor, theatre company director and workshop leader.
